Assign Territories by Line of Business

Territories used to be about states. That was fine until a producer needed to sell health in Kansas and life in Missouri, at which point a state-shaped territory couldn't describe the job.

Territories now carry lines of business. Build one for a set of states and the lines of business that go with them, and assignments inherit both. A producer assigned to that territory gets exactly the licenses the work requires, not every line their states happen to allow.

The same thinking runs through producer assignments. When you assign a producer, you're choosing states and lines of business, so what you're asking InsureTrek to apply for matches what the person will actually sell. Line-of-business filters run through the assignment screens, so you can find everyone selling a given line without reading down a state column.

You can create, edit, and duplicate territories, which matters when your territories are variations on a theme — a Medicare footprint and a life footprint over mostly the same states. Build one, duplicate it, change the lines.

Individual producers get this too, not just agency-managed teams. And assignment changes show up in the producer's activity history, so a territory reshuffle six months ago is still explainable today.

If your territories are state-only today, nothing breaks. They keep working as they are until you're ready to add lines of business to them.
